Royalty-Free Stock Photos

Think “Royalty Free”, If . . .

  • Your composition requires many images and none of them is the “major visual” on a critical “branding project”, or . . .
  • The image is a “secondary” or “ancillary” image that supports the major visual but is not, itself, the major visual, or . . .
  • Budget constraints won’t allow the extra expense of rights managed, or . . .
  • The type of image you are looking for simply doesn’t exist in the rights managed images

Royalty-Free Images are purchased outright as individual images and can be used in various ways, with certain restrictions (see below). Royalty–Free images are sold on a non-exclusive basis. We do not record industry data when licensing.

If you purchase a small file size, but then want to change to a larger and more expensive size, the amount you originally paid is fully credited towards the cost of the larger file size. Bulk rates can be quoted, on request. Royalty-Free images can be identified by the “Royalty-Free” notation in the “Image Information” box for each individual image.

On rare occasions, a Royalty-Free image may be available for license under an exclusive Rights-Managed agreement. Specific images can be discussed on a case-by-case basis.

Rights-Managed Stock Photos

Think ”Rights Managed”, If . . .

  • You are seeking excellence in visual content . . .
  • The image will be the “major visual” in your project, and . . .
  • The project is “important” enough to you (or your client) to warrant making sure a competitor doesn’t use the same image in the same way (usage is tracked to prevent conflicts), and . . .
  • Budget allocations allow the extra expense, or . . .
  • You simply cannot find the image you need in the royalty free images
Rights-Managed Images are “rented” for a specific purpose at a specific price. Once you negotiate a fee with the photographer for the specific use you have in mind, any other use is subject to an additional fee. The license fee is calculated according to several factor including, but not limited to - size, placement/location, press run, duration of use, exclusivity requirement. Rights-Managed images can be identified by the “Rights-Managed” notation in the “Image Information” box for each individual image.

Copyright is NOT transferred upon licensing of any image.
